Livermorium is a synthetic element that has the symbol Lv and atomic number 116. It is the heaviest element that has been created in a laboratory. Livermorium is very unstable and has only been created in very small quantities.

Livermorium was first created in 2000 by scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia. They created livermorium by bombarding a target of californium-249 with calcium-48 ions.

Livermorium is named after the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, where some of the research on the element was conducted.

The scientists were able to synthesize livermorium for the first time in 2000.
