hour

An hour is a unit of time that is equal to 60 minutes. There are 24 hours in a day.

We use hours to measure time. For example, we say that it is 8 o'clock in the morning, or that we have an hour to go before the movie starts.

Hours are also used to measure the speed of things. For example, we say that a car is traveling at 60 miles per hour, or that a runner ran a marathon in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
