Unit Summary

This biology unit is centred around the biological process of reproduction and delves into the intricate processes of life propagation in both the human and plant kingdoms. The students will begin by exploring puberty and the adolescent phase of life before focusing on the anatomy of the human reproductive system. After this, the students will explore the stages of the menstrual cycle and the process of fertilisation and pregnancy.

The second half of the unit transitions from humans to plants, unveiling the world of plant reproduction. The students will glean insights into the anatomy of flowers, equipping them with the knowledge to understand their intricate reproductive structures. They will uncover the various ways in which plants perpetuate their lineage, delving into pollination, seed formation and the dispersal mechanisms that ensure their survival. Throughout this unit, the students will gain insights from industry experts, amplifying their understanding of reproduction and fostering a holistic view of the overall process.
