2. Explain how Mendeleev sorted the elements

Mission Objectives

Understand the principles used by Mendeleev to establish the periodic table, including the concept of atomic mass and the organisation of elements into groups and periods

Identify and explain the patterns and trends in the periodic table, including the relationship between atomic number, atomic mass and the properties of elements

Apply knowledge of the periodic table to predict the properties of elements and their compounds and understand the significance of the periodic table in modern chemistry
