The 4th biology unit - comprised of 8 lessons - aims to highlight the biological implications of nutrition, health and digestion. To start with, students will delve into essential nutrient groups, understanding their roles in a balanced diet, and honing classification skills. The students are encouraged to consider their own and others' diets, whilst understanding the energy requirements for a healthy lifestyle. They will then conduct food tests, decode healthy diets and explore the process of digestion and the importance of gut bacteria. The last lessons from this unit focus on medicinal and recreational drugs - including alcohol - and explore the impact these can have on our health and wellbeing.
