Implementation

Starter

Recap biodiversity. Ask the students to recall the different ways humans can affect biodiversity using the images on the slide to help them. Ask them to discuss ways we might reduce the negative impacts of these actions.

Main Teaching

Answer questions and take part in activities during the presentation.

Expert Film: This is Leah Mathias-Collins, who works with the RHS as the Group Environment Manager at Vitacress. Leah talks about how to maintain biodiversity.

Career Film: Dr Raghavendra Prasad works as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the RHS.

Mission Assignment

Research and produce a poster providing a specific example of one of the four methods for maintaining biodiversity and its effects.

Model: Breeding programmes increase the populations of endangered species. An example is the giant panda.
