Reflect on Science Week 2025 with these activities from Developing Experts
We’re now coming to the end of British Science Week, so hopefully you’ve taken the last week as an opportunity to explore all things ‘Change and Adapt’ with your students. If you’re looking for a couple of last-minute activities to wrap up the week and help your students reflect on what they’ve been learning, read on to discover our suggestions.
Did you tune in to watch our wildlife expert Mike talk all things reptiles last Friday? If you didn’t, you don’t need to worry - you can watch the lessons anytime you like on our YouTube channel. The lesson plans and handouts are also available to download from the Developing Experts website.
If you did attend our LIVE lesson, we’d love to hear from you. You can let us know your feedback here.
Our lesson plans for each live lesson contain some ideas for follow-up activities. For EYFS and KS1, we suggest discussing the changes that are happening worldwide and linking these to a new species of climate-adaptive reptile. You can continue this discussion into KS2 - as the world continues to experience new challenges, how might reptiles have to continue to change and adapt?
For KS3 students, we’ve provided a handout to explore how reptiles have changed over the last millions of years. You can use this handout to discuss the climactic changes that caused different adaptations or extinctions.
You can complete these follow-up activities even if you didn’t attend the live lesson! They are all intended to be discussion-based and flexible, so you could fit them into any classroom time you may have.
We love to see photos and videos of your students using our resources, so please do send them to us! You can view our social media details at the bottom of this post.
Change and adapt might be the theme of Science Week this year, but it is also a prominent topic in the National Curriculum in general. If you want to teach this topic next or would like to assign your students extra material to explore, you can find everything you need on the Developing Experts platform. To discover our top unit recommendations, read our blog post on the topic.
Did you attend our live lesson as a non-subscriber, and now you’d like to learn more? A free two-week trial with Developing Experts allows you to explore all our resources from EYFS to KS4. You can easily set up a free trial for your school by heading to our sign-up page now.
