How Developing Experts tackles the three I’s - Impact

Key to the new Ofsted framework (2019) has been the buzz-phrase of ‘The Three I’s,’ namely the Intent, Implementation and Impact of a school’s curriculum offering, with a real emphasis on how the knowledge and skills learnt will secure advantages for children later in life.  Our curriculum director, Paul Usher, takes a look at how our curriculum offer marries up to the latest framework. In this blog, we’re discussing the final of the three I’s, impact.

Impact - “The outcome children achieve as a result of the education they have received.”

DE offers several assessment opportunities within lessons and units of work.  From a quick online key word quiz, to a multiple choice comprehension activity and then on to a unit knowledge test or assessed practical task, there are many ways to track pupil progress.

Our assessment system provides immediate feedback for the child, so that parents and schools can track ‘live’ their progress, and it also provides teachers with a handy tool for grade input, which is both done automatically and manually.  Progress can be tracked by pupil, class, whole school, across a trust or even at county or government level.

We don’t see our platform as just a means to good outcomes for children, we also see it as a means to developing their confidence, their love of science and their knowledge of careers and opportunities related to science.  Our 150 expert speakers provide both inspiration and advice in this sense.  From a diverse range of backgrounds and occupations, these films help pupils to understand that science is ubiquitous in life.

Our impact has been powerful for schools.
