How to use our YouTube content in your classroom
Did you know that we have a YouTube channel? Well, we do! Updated weekly with new videos, recordings and activities to try out, our YouTube channel could be the perfect way for you to mix up your KS1, KS2 or KS3 science lessons and try new ways of engaging your pupils. Here are 5 ways that you can start using our videos today.
Inspired by our popular ‘Rocket Thinking’ slides, these videos are a great way to pique your pupils’ attention as you begin a new science lesson or start a new day. Since they show both a video and a short prompt, you’re able to give your pupils some time to think, while also providing a focus and direction. Try playing one of our Rocket Thoughts at the start of a lesson and let us know what you think.
Need a way to encourage your pupils to settle down when they come in from breaktime? Try playing one of our videos in the background. We’ve got lots of imagery included, so your pupils will be distracted by what’s in front of them - in a good way.
If you struggle with rounding off your lessons, let us do the work for you. With a variety of topics and key stages included, you’re bound to find a video on our YouTube channel that can helpfully function as a lesson plenary for any topic.
If you have a number of pupils in your class who always seem like they’re miles ahead, have them watch one of our videos while the rest of your class finish their work. You could ask them to summarise the video in their workbooks, write down any interesting facts from the video, or even note down questions they could explore further.
Did you know that we run regular live lessons throughout the school year for you and your classes to enjoy? Usually based around a certain theme or topic, our live lesson recordings are on YouTube and available for you to watch at any time. We even have ready-made lesson plan and handouts to accompany these lessons, which are free for all subscribed schools in the Topical Lessons folder. You can access our live lesson recordings here.
Visit our YouTube channel here. We’ll be adding loads more videos over the coming months, but if you have any suggestions for video content you’d like to see, do reach out to let us know. You can reach us on X at @DevelopExperts, Facebook at Developing Experts and Instagram at @developingexperts.
