Are you ready to take your Key Stage 3 science teaching to the next level? If so, we have the perfect curriculum for you. Introducing our new and improved KS3 curriculum: a comprehensive and innovative offering, designed to engage and inspire your students while delivering top-notch education. To show you everything our lessons have to offer, we’ve laid out a walk-through of the very first unit in the curriculum: Cells & Organisation. Read on to be inspired!
What you’ll find in our units
- Navigating the unit: When you first click into a unit, you will see a unit summary. This contains a brief overview of what has been covered in the unit and who the lesson experts are. You can then scroll down to download the unit documents, view exemplar work and read about our unit writers.
- Choosing your lesson: Next, you need to find your desired lesson. These are positioned on the right-hand side of the screen. Cells & Organisation contains 9 lessons in total!
- Planning: Each homepage contains everything you need to implement your lesson in the classroom. Here, you can view and print the lesson plan, download the handout, view required resources, and see an overview of the 5 keywords.
- Teaching: Click ‘Start Presentation’ to open the presentation, and you’re ready to go!
Making Science Engaging
Engaging young minds in the world of science can be a thrilling journey. Here are some strategies we use to make sure our lessons are exciting, memorable and impactful:
- Hands-On Experiments: Science is best learned through experimentation, so we’ve made sure to include lots of hands-on activities and experiments to help students apply their knowledge in real-life contexts. In Cells & Organisation, students get to examine their own cheek cells, explore onion cells, and even bake bread!
- Real-World Applications: Every lesson emphasises the connection between scientific principles and real-world applications. Our expert and career films show your students how the concepts they're learning are relevant in their daily lives and inspire them with the possibilities science holds.
- Collaborative Projects: Our units have a good mixture of independent tasks and group activities. Collaboration not only enhances learning but also fosters critical skills like communication and problem-solving. In Cells & Organisation, starter and plenary tasks frequently involve class discussion, whilst activities such as imagining you are a sprinter’s lungs encourage individual creativity and attention to detail.
If this run-through of Cells & Organisation has inspired you and you're ready to explore the possibilities of Developing Experts, we encourage you to give our curriculum a try and witness the transformation in your science classrooms.
